If your cat is a competitive hunter whose athleticism is unmatched and senses finely tuned, you may already understand this. But if your cat more resembles a loaf of bread that would rather not leave their sun spot unless they hear a can of food open, listen up! Our feline companions are not as far removed from their ancestors as we may think. Unlike their canine counterparts, domesticated cats have likely been around less than 10,000 years. Although this sounds like a long time, many of the instincts they inherited from their predecessors are still very much intact. One of the most important instincts that we, as servants of our kitty masters, need to keep in mind is that they are still hardwired to get their sustenance from a freshly caught animal. The concept of having to eat food out of a bowl is weird enough, but having to drink water?! It's a foreign concept to them. Most cats do not even resort to going to a bowl for water until they are already dehydrated. While providing a flowing water source, and moving their water away from their food dish can help, there really is no supplement to feeding cats (at least partially) a hydrated diet. That's where we come in! Although we do have a wide variety of high-quality dry cat food, we don't recommend that owners feed this exclusively. Adding canned and/or raw into a cat's diet can be incredibly beneficial in more ways than one. Below we have a list of canned and dry foods we carry. We're always happy to talk to you about your feline's specific needs and health concerns and the role diet may play.
